Jussie Smollett Breaks Silence: ‘My Body Is Strong but My Soul Is Stronger’
Jussie Smollett has issued his first public statement since it was reported that he was assaulted by two men in Chicago earlier this week.

“Let me start by saying that I’m Ok,” Smollett said in a statement to Essence. “My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly, I want to say thank you. The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words.”

“I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level,” he continued. “Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.”

“As my family stated, these types of cowardly attacks are happening to my sisters, brothers, and non-gender conforming siblings daily,” the statement concluded. “I am not and should not be looked upon as an isolated incident.

Hobbs and Shaw: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham Face Off Against a Superhuman Idris Elba

  • Popsugar
After a few badass teasers were shared on Instagram, the first trailer for Hobbs and Shaw has arrived. And, yes, we're already obsessed.

After seeing a deluge of approximately one trillion behind-the-scenes photos, some official portraits, and drooling over every casting announcement, this is our first glimpse of footage from the Fast and Furious spinoff. Luckily, it seems to have the same fun, action-heavy tone as the original franchise, only this time around, with the introduction of a superhuman villain played by Idris Elba.

Johnson stars as the titular Hobbs, a hard-ass Us diplomatic security agent, alongside Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw, a former villain with a heart of gold. Together with Shaw's sister, rogue MI6 agent Hattie (The Crown's Vanessa Kirby), they're tasked with putting all their smack talk and fist fights aside so they can take down a cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist, Brixton (Elba), who's gained control of

Valentine's Day Is "Coming Prematurely" Thanks to Netflix's Big Mouth Special

  • Popsugar
Valentine's Day Is
Can you imagine a better holiday for Big Mouth to explore than Valentine's Day? With all the hormones and candy hearts flying in every which way, we can already guess that Andrew (John Mulaney), Nick (Nick Kroll), Jessi (Jessi Klein), and Missy (Jenny Slate) would be a little crazier than usual. Fortunately, Netflix is blessing us with a special in honor of the lovey-dovey holiday, titled "My Furry Valentine."

The trailer for the new episode of the coming-of-age comedy is unsurprisingly hilarious, with Andrew deciding to rock a questionable hat in his ongoing quest to win over Missy, while Nick seems to be out at a romantic dinner along with his parents. It also looks like we'll get a musical number of some kind and a sassy one-liner from Matthew (Andrew Rannells) about Topman that is already the best line from the show thus far.

Can You Guess Which Random John Mayer Song Is Being Turned Into a TV Show by ABC?

Can You Guess Which Random John Mayer Song Is Being Turned Into a TV Show by ABC?
If a TV network asked you to base a new series on one of John Mayer's songs, which would you pick?

Maybe "Your Body Is a Wonderland" could be turned into a rom-com? "Say" could be about a young progressive politician navigating her new role in DC? Even "Daughters" seems rife with familial drama. But in what might be today's most unexpected piece of entertainment news, ABC has decided to base a new series on a track off Mayer's Continuum: "The Heart of Life."

The song from the Grammy winner's third studio album was never even released as a single, and Mayer didn't bother to make a music video for it. Still, the network has clearly been inspired by its emotional lyrics - "Pain throws your heart to the ground / Love turns the whole thing around / Fear is a friend who's misunderstood" - and has already ordered a pilot based on the song,

Penn Badgley Is Still on a Mission to Stop Fans From Thirsting Over Joe in You

Ever since You got picked up by Netflix, the conversation surrounding the TV show has gone positively viral. Not only are Netflix subscribers devouring the short 10-episode first season, but they're bringing all of their thoughts to social media. As such, we have a veritable flash flood of tweets about how creepy the show is, why it's hard to pity Beck, and even why Peach is an entire mood for 2019. But there's one part of this whole discourse that has caused some light ripples of concern: many people are thirsting after Joe.

Look, I get it, it's all just fun. Twitter has become a space to hyperbolize yourself and say edgy things (within reason), so saying Joe Goldberg is "bae" because of all the murdery things he does for Beck? I'd say it's par for the course. But for Penn Badgley, the man playing the monster, it's all kinds of problematic.

Jane the Virgin's Creator Reveals Why the Show Brought Michael Back From the Dead

Jane the Virgin's Creator Reveals Why the Show Brought Michael Back From the Dead
The cliffhanger ending of Jane the Virgin's fourth season finale really was, just as the show's Latin Lover Narrator likes to say, straight out of a telenovela: Michael, the supposedly deceased husband of star Gina Rodriguez's titular Jane, seemed to be back from the dead - albeit in a more bearded and burly form.

All of this will most certainly be addressed when The CW show returns for its fifth and final season on March 27. But there is a question of whether this storyline is too extreme, even for a show whose very premise is about a virgin who gets pregnant through an accidental artificial insemination.

Jennie Snyder Urman, the series' creator, told journalists at the show's Television Critics Association press day on Jan. 31 that she was encouraged to go for the shocking twist by Carolina Rivera. An experienced telenovela writer who also works on the show, Rivera said

Insecure's Amanda Seales Reveals How She's Most Like Her Character, Tiffany
When Amanda Seales was first cast as Tiffany on HBO's Insecure, she didn't really relate to the character, who seemed "bougie and vapid." But after spending two seasons with Tiffany, the comedian and actor feels very differently. "We've gotten to see more of her softer side," Seales said. "She's not trying to be nitpicky or judgmental. She really is just calling out the truth to her friends, who really make a concerted effort to ignore the truth and the facts. That's an important role to play in a friend circle." Seales admits that she's actually that friend in her social circle. "People don't tell me nothing until they're ready for the truth," she said.

"I didn't shade you. The facts shaded you."

In addition to her role as truth-teller, Seales wears many other hats: DJ, singer, comedian, actress, and game show host. She also holds a master's degree in African-American studies from Columbia University.

A Million Little Things: Here Are the Odds of Us Getting Season 2
If you're into emotional ensemble TV dramas, there's a pretty good chance you've checked out A Million Little Things, ABC's new drama this season. The series, focused on a group of friends unraveling the aftermath of one friend's suicide, was one of the most buzzed-about shows out of the network's new lineup in the Fall of 2018. As the season has worn on, however, there's been no news either way as to whether the show will return for a second season next year. So what, exactly, is the likelihood of A Million Little Things living to see another season?

Right now, it's in the unenviable position of being a "bubble" show - but it's more likely to get renewed than not. According to TVLine, the Jan. 24 episode hit 5.4 million viewers, including 1.1 in the key demo (viewers 18-49), which is a respectable, if not excellent, number. For comparison, its ABC Thursday

All the Ways Princess Margaret's 21st Birthday Was a Royally Fabulous Affair
Long before Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle became the center of royal attention, the queen's sister Princess Margaret captivated the public and garnered her fair share of headlines. Now that her prized birthday gown is on display in London, we're revisiting the details of the momentous occasion.

The centerpiece of the party, was, of course, what the princess was wearing, and Princess Margaret certainly did not disappoint. She selected a gown by French designer Christian Dior, made of creamy organza silk, featuring an off-the-shoulder cut and a massive, full skirt, and covered in detailed embroidery,

Taraji P. Henson Isn't Taking a Penny Less Than She Deserves:
The gender pay gap is excruciatingly unfair to women of color, and it's an unfortunate hurdle that affects even those at the top of their professions, including women in Hollywood. Taraji P. Henson - who has been in the game for over two decades - knows the struggle well and opened up about her experiences with pay negotiations in Net-a-Porter's digital magazine, The Edit. The Empire star's quotes about salary negotiations and no longer accepting less than her worth have vision-board potential. Seriously, they're that real.

This Is Why You Recognize That Song in The Umbrella Academy Trailer

There have been so many supernatural and superhero stories in pop culture lately, it's sometimes hard to keep up. But one new tale is getting some serious attention online - and not just because of the story.

The trailer for Netflix's upcoming series The Umbrella Academy dropped recently, and it's intriguing enough on its own. Its premise is the eerie stuff that sci-fi series are made of: 43 children are suddenly born to women who weren't even pregnant, and six of them, with supernatural abilities, are raised by a billionaire and eventually reunite to prevent the apocalypse that one of them glimpsed on an accidental time-travel trip. This high-concept series is enough to get people buzzing, but the punk-rock song that scores the trailer has caught plenty of attention itself.

The song that has everyone talking is the moody "A Hazy Shade of Winter." Originally recorded by Simon & Garfunkel, the 1966 song,
